Introduction:
The Department is in existence since the inception of the college in 1957 founded by Sri S. P. Nallamuthu Gounder of Sellappampalayam and Dr. N. Mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi Group of companies. Our College plays a vibrant role in Sports and Games activities under the able stewardship of Dr.B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar as President, Thiru. M. Balasubramaniam as Secretary and Dr.R.Muthukumaran Principal. Their unstinting support in conducting various programmes has strengthened the Department.
We enshrine in our goal to offer Sports & Games as a compulsory component for all the students who come into the college fold in the first and second year of their degree programme. This mobility shall facilitate “Star Sports Personnel” in future to earn name and fame for the College and our nation. The efforts of the department shall further enable outstanding Sports persons bloom into National Sports Icons and find jobs in various sectors of employment.
Health and Physical fitness have played a vital role in the life of man from time immemorial; The Progress of a nation lies in the hands of the people, who are healthy and physically fit. Physical activity is essential for the development of wholesome Personality of the child which would depend upon the opportunities provided for wholesome development of the Mental, Physical, Social and Spiritual aspects. Hence, a well-organized and properly administered physical education Program for schools and college children is very essential.
