Programme Officers

Three Decades of NSS

The NGM NSS Cell aims at developing citizens with value based knowledge, skill, character and contributing to social transformation and national development. It induces everyone to selfless services. The first unit with 100 members began to function in the year 1972. The second, third and fourth units was started in the year 1976, 2002 and 2004 respectively. Today, there are four NSS units serving in our institution with 400 vibrant volunteers



  • To develop the students to serve for humanity.
  • To provide an opportunity to the students to know the dignity of labour,self-discipline, the qualities of patriotism and secularism.
  • To channelise the youth energy to bring about changes in the society for the development of community.
  • To help the villagers to earn general wisdom.
  • To help the villagers to develop their economic condition to face the modern necessities
  • To inculcate the community, the spirit of nationalism, self-reliance and professional culture or the betterment of both the individual and the nation.

Cervical Cancer-Awareness Programme

Programme on Cervical Cancer conducted on 28.07.11 at Vivekanandar Arangam at 9.30 am Principal-welcomed the gathering Dr. Shanthi Anand, Kowsalya Medical Centre, Pollachi felicitated the function.

Dr. Mrs. Vani Mohan, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist women and child care centre, Coimbatore spoke on the causes and effects of cervical cancer and the necessary precautions that are to be taken to prevent it. 700 girl students of our college participated and benefited by it.

65th Independence Day

Independence Day celebration was celebrated with gaiety on 15.08.11 at 7.50 am in the college premises. Principal of our college hoisted the flag and Dr. K. Viswanathan, Associate professor of mathematics spoke on independence.

Dental Camp

Dental camp was conducted on 3.10.11 and 4.10.11 at M. M. Hall jointly with Vasan Dental Care Centre, Dr. K. Krishnamoorthy, Dr. V. Thamizhvanan, Dr. K. Haripriya, conducted the camp and nearly 800 students participated and benefited by it.

Breast Cancer-Awareness Programme

An awareness programme on Breast cancer was conducted on 14.10.11 by the NSS unit of our college jointly with Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Kovai and inner wheel club, Pollachi. Dr. Badri Sriman Narayan, Principal of our college,Mrs. Chitra Badri, president, inner wheel club flagged off the function. Nearly 100 NSS volunteers participated and 3000 pamphlets were issued to the public to create awareness.

Local Body Election Participation

About to NSS volunteers were sent for Bandopasthu to local body elections of Tamilnadu from 16.10.11 to 19.10.11.

Vivekanda Kendra-Youth Awareness Programme

64 students attended youth awareness programme conducted by Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari from 05.10.11 to 07.10.11.

Republic Day Celebration

63rd Republic day was celebrated with pomp and honour. Dr. P. Badri Sriman Narayan Principal of our college hoisted the flag. Dr. P. Subramaniam, HOD, Dept of Commerce gave special address. NSS volunteer Gokila gave a speech on republic. Cultural programmes were conducted.

Special Camp

7 days special camp was organized at R. Ponnapuram Panchayat from 18th February to 24th February 2012. Camp was focused on Health and Legal awareness. Nearly 200 volunteers from 4 units participated and about 1000 villagers benefited by it.

An outstanding symbol of National Integration.

The NCC has its genesis in the “University Corps”, which was created under the Indian Defence Act, 1917 with the objective to train students for the Armed Forces. We offer to the students-opportunity for personal development, Incentives to achieve academics excellence, opportunity to participate in adventure activity, scholarships, opportunity to travel abroad. NCC has proved to be a patent stream in grooming tomorrow’s leaders and in channelising the agile minds o the youth to imbibe leadership qualities, character building and discipline to make them excellent citizens.
